Infrastructure ๐Ÿ—

Ethereum

  • Ethernets is an an Ethereum network crawler that allows node operators, researchers, and core devs to see data about their nodes, and various Ethereum, and even not Ethereum networks.
  • Ethernow by BlockNative is a transaction explorer that allows you to see what is happening at the core of Ethereum, in real-time.
  • Developer Alessandro Mazza introduces Reth Crawler, a tool for the Ethereum execution layer. It leverages the Reth P2P stack for discovering nodes and uses Ethereum wire network protocols for connecting with them.

L2s

  • OP Labs is migrating to OP testnets from OP Goerli to OP Sepolia. Developers are encouraged to migrate before January 2024 to ensure their testnet app works as intended on OP Sepolia.
  • The governance vote for OP Chain's post-Bedrock network upgrade, Canyon, passed successfully. On Jan. 11, Canyon will be activated on OP Chain mainnets across the Superchain.
  • Immutable launched the Immutable zkEVM testnet, a dedicated chain for games that combines the benefits of zk-rollup technology and the entire suite of Immutable gaming products.
  • Nethermind released the v1.23.0 upgrade with Optimism support, support for initializing the Nethermind database, and reduced memory usage spikes when nodes are overloaded with CL requests.
  • zkSync is migrating to Sepolia, which will be the primary testnet for zkSync. The team will sunset zkSync Era Goerli in Jan 2024.
  • Lumoz launched the testnet of ZKFair, a community-owned ZK L2 that will ensure a 100% fair launch. ZKFair is built using Polygon CDK, Celestia modular DA, and Lumoz RaaS.
  • Polymer Labs launched Polymer, an Ethereum rollup that enables interoperability among Ethereum rollups through native IBC technology backed by Ethereum security.

Solana

  • Solana explorer SolanaFM launched the Quantum upgrade, with new features such as Transaction Headers, RPC Multiplexer, and Advanced Transaction Filters.

Security ๐Ÿ›ก

  • Zellic Security Describes how they found a vulnerability in Astar that could have been exploited by a malicious actor to steal ~$400,000 USD worth of tokens. This bug allowed an attacker to drain certain LP contracts on the Astar-EVM, with no bugs required in the contracts.

Tooling ๐Ÿ›

Ethereum

  • Paradigm releases Reth alpha.13, fixing a long-standing issue for full node and heavy RPC tracing users. Block commit times are now consistent at 200โ€“300ms, compared to the previous buggy behavior, of up to 30s in extreme cases.
  • Data platform Shadow proposes ERC-7571, a standardized syntax for shadow events within Ethereum smart contracts to make it easier for them to be specified, discovered, and fetched by any off-chain developer tools or infrastructure.
  • Shadow adds support for Vyper, allowing developers to write shadow events for any Vyper contract and get custom data in minutes
  • Developer 0xKitsune and djosiris.eth built sstan, a Solidity static analyzer designed to compete in the Code4rena bot races.

Immutable

  • QuickNode now supports Immutable zkEVM testet, allowing developers to build easily on Immutable zkEVM with APIs, tools & analytics.

Solana

  • Eth-Sol bridging SDK Moongate enables EVM users to access Solana-based Kamino Lend & Liquidity vaults straight from Metamask.

Avalanche

  • Developer Manoj introduces Hyper-WASM, a stateful wasm runtime supported by HyperSdk. Hyper-WASM enables developers to write smart contracts in wasm-supported languages(c,c++, rust, java, kotlin, python, go...).

Mechanism โš™๏ธ

  • Liquity introduces IApps (local apps), a self-ran private frontend solution that offers regulatory compliance, better security, faster loading, and update policy.
